Update - As with all the Flood Pups, we were finding it almost impossible to make any progress without the ability to give them one to one attention, so Bev Farmer (Podenco Friends) very kindly offered to step in and foster Pepe who was with our friends in APROP, meaning they can also now work more intensively with Andi. As you can see from the new photos, Pepe is absolutely thriving under Bev's care, but it has been (and still is) anything but a walk in the park! Pepe is making giant strides - for him - but to most people, they would still see the most terrified dog they had ever witnessed. When he eventually moves to a forever home (or foster) in the UK, it will undoubtedly need to be someone VERY experienced with VERY scared dogs. We cannot risk the great work being done with him getting undone. He will certainly regress with a move, so we must be 100% sure the new caregiver is experienced enough for the challenge. We will not be accepting offers for Pepe's home until Bev has assessed that he has reached the stage he needs to. We are certainly happy to take applications from suitable homes who are willing to wait for however long it takes. Pepe is lucky to have had a foster offer from Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends, so he has now been with her for several weeks and is slowly but surely gaining confidence in her expert care. Pepe and littermate, Andy still have a long way to go before they could be homed as they are still so very distrustful of humans. They are working with a behaviourist but progress is going to be very gradual.
