About Fiona

Update June What better way to start a Sunday than a whole lot of photos from Fiona's foster mum! As you can see, this gorgeous little girl is doing so well and is absolutely loving life!
Here's what her foster mum has to say about her.
Please pm us if you are interested in adopting Fiona. She's currently in Central Scotland but can travel anywhere in the UK as long as the perfect home is found.
So , update. Fiona is a great wee dog, largely unproblematic but definitely very nervous.
She pretty much clean in the house and has been since she arrived but doesn't know how to ask out so if you're not vigilant there will still be the occasional accident.
So far, very good on walks, at first she was very nervous and basically just shadowed me but she's getting braver and doing sniffs now. She will spot a squirrel etc and is definitely interested so has a prey drive but it's not off the scale like with the boys.
She takes confidence from the other dogs and watches them for ques, particularly on walks but isn't inclined to cuddle with them.
She has to travel in a crate as she will chew right through leads and car restraints. (Her harness is on its last legs!) She gets car sick, even on short journeys and will often vomit. This may settle as she gets more confident but no improvement yet.
She desperately wants to love and be loved but her nerves hold her back sometimes. It took a week before she'd let us touch her, she follows you around and approaches for pets but then shys away. She will now accept pets but still cringes a little or tucks her tail initially before settling in to it. She also cringes for getting her lead in etc.
Eats well and shows no food aggression with us or the other dogs. She will eat all hers and then patiently sit by Lottie to see if she leaves anything.
She can be quite barkie in the garden, when guests arrive but generally quietens down when you tell her and does settle once guests have been in the house a while. She's met the grandkids and is quite nervous of them if they're being too bouncy but will bark and move away.
Up until the last couple of weeks she's preferred to lie in the dog beds but has now decided she quite likes the sofa. She will lie at the other end or near you but doesn't want to cuddle in, that may come with time and confidence.
Everyone who meets her loves her and wishes they could have her!

- Fiona is settling in to foster slowly but surely.
Shes still a bit nervous and will approach for a pat but she’s away. She desperately wants to trust but can’t allow herself just yet.

She follows the other dogs and takes ques from them so she would do well with other confident dogs in the home. She is very gentle lovely girl.

She can be vocal in garden and if people
Come over - but soon settles.
Fiona just needs time to trust and settle and she has a sweet girl personality just waiting to come out 🧡

Update 22/1/25 - Fiona is gaining confidence all the time and is now very happy to get cuddles and treats from a human she knows and trusts. She is still quite a nervous little lady though, especially around traffic, so she will need to be homed in a quieter location so that she can learn to walk on the lead without being terrified of everything going on around her. She is also car sick at the moment (seen on vet visits), but often this is anxiety based and gets better once they are in a home and start to see that a trip in the car may mean a fun walk somewhere. She is very confident in the residencia now and shows this by climbing the gates and fences to explore round about (we are assured she always comes back!) So we need a secure garden or an undertaking to always have her on lead until she is fully settled somewhere. Fiona gets on fine with the other dogs, but does seem interested in the cat so probably best to be a cat-free home .
Fiona is a lovely little 5 year old podenca - probably a cross, who came into PINS care a few weeks ago with her puppy Luke. They were unwanted and mum was chained up so we were asked to help. They have gone into resi with the lovely Corinna who has already seen Fiona start to blossom with kindness.
Fiona is still feeding Luke a bit (although he's now over 3 months so time for that young man to stand on his own 4 paws!) For this reason, we haven't had her spayed yet, but this will be done in January.
Fiona is full of mischief (they both are), and runs around playing, trying to climb walls and pulling each other's collars off. So you can see she will need a lively home where she can have lots of mental and physical stimulation. She's going to make a truly wonderful addition to someone's family
